When making a body butter, I always use the same base ingredients. Why? The ones that I have used and tested time and time again always prove true and never let me down.
Here is a list of the ingredients that I put in my home made body butters:
- Raw Organic African Shea Butter
- Organic unrefined Coconut Oil
- Organic Olive Oil
- Natural Beeswax
- Vitamin E Oil
- Purely Essential Oils
Why Shea Butter? Shea butter is full of nutrients, including vitamin A, which has many healing properties and has been known to aid in treating blemishes, wrinkles, eczema and dermatitis, as well as burns and even stretch marks. Shea butter is also packed with antioxidants like vitamin E , as well as polyphenols and phytonutrients. These ingredients make shea butter an anti-inflammatory, which is why it works so well at moisturizing and soothing all types of skin. (Credit Draxe)
Why Organic Coconut Oil? Coconut oil moisturizes skin, fights unwanted microorganisms on your face, and may help treat acne. Coconut oil also reduces inflammation and may help with wound healing. This magic oil is not only good for your skin, but is also good for your hair and nails. Coconut oil is a great choice of moisturizer for very dry and chapped skin.
Why Olive Oil? Olive oil has been used as a deep moisturizer and a cleanser for thousands of years. During the time before our modern day soaps, olive oil was used in place of soap to remove dirt and germs, rinsed with hot water, and added back onto the skin as a moisturizer. Olive oil is rich in Vitamins A, D, K, and E. It is such a powerful antioxidant that it has been proven to reverse damage caused by cancer causing radiation. Olive Oil is also used as a base in many face cleansing lotions due to its ability to fight off bacteria while penetrating deep into the skin, without clogging pores.
Why Beeswax? Beeswax has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties. Beeswax seals the moisture in our skin and forms a protective wall that helps fight chapped skin and bacterial infections. It has been proven to also fade age spots and prevent skin wrinkles.
Why Vitamin E? Vitamin E has the power to improve and repair the appearance of damaged tissue. Vitamin E blocks free radicals that play a huge role in the aging process. It can also smooth out lines and fade scars and stretch marks.
Why Purely Essential Oils? I use all natural and organic ingredients to make my body butters. That’s why I choose Purely Essential Oils to add to it. Without a doubt, it’s a natural essential oil to add to the already awesomeness of the body butter. I love to add essential oils like Lavender, Tea Tree, and Frankincense to help with eczema and irritated skin. I also love how Sandalwood and Helichrysum fights aging and fades away scars and marks. Purely essential oils are just the finishing touch needed for my home made body butter.
